Research On Jin Xi And His Vocal Music Works

Mr. Jin Xi is a prestigious composer and musical educationist of modern China. He produced many high-quality music works, collected a great deal of folk music and did meaningful relevant research. Besides, he took charged of, or participated in finishing lots of anthologies of folk music in Shandong Province, as well as wrote several relevant works, which are of great importance for advancing and enriching the fine cultural heritage of China. This paper gives a general overview of Mr. Jin's art career, and makes comments on his achievements. The paper is to expound Mr. Jin's diversified musical genres, and his far-reaching influence on fostering young musical talents by examining his varied works, including vocal solo works, part songs, children's songs and orchestral pieces. The paper aims at reviewing Mr. Jin's works in terms of subjects, melodies and structures, thus generalizing the characteristics of his works, such as closing and reflecting real life, full of striking Shandong features, and appealing to both refined and popular tastes.
