| The creation and the spread condition of Dream of the Red Chamberis tough and complicated. During creating the book, it was read for ten years, and added or deleted five times. From the first draft and commentary draft to the handwritten copy, the content of the novel which was in the process of being modified, riched and perfected has changed enormously. The life experience and fate of leading characters has changed, too. In today's version of Dream of the Red Chamber, there are "Jia Jing", "Jia She", "Jia Zheng" three collateral series in "Ning" and "Rong" two "Kokufu". "Jia She" is the key of the "Rong Kokufu". However, there are various indications that in Cao Xueqin's first draft it was only "Jia Zheng" in "Jia Kokufu", and "Jia Zheng" is the host of "Rong Kokufu", the master, servant and relatives were the whole show, and the story of "Grand View Garden" was the primary coverage. After making some additions and deletions, the author added "Jia She" and "Ning Kokufu", which forms the family structure of "Jia Kokufu" in today's version."Jia She" occupies a certain position in today's version, while generally speaking, the subordinate roles of "Jia" might be added, from the situation analysis of taking charge of the pattern, status of the master and the trace of the first draft. "Jia" had only "Jia Zheng" in "Rong Kokufu", "Jia Yingchun" was the daughter of "Jia Zheng" in the first version. Later, the author added Mrs. "Jia Shexing", "Jia Yingchun" was arranged as the daughter of "Jia She". If "Jia Lian" didn't come on the scene, he could be the nephew of collateral series of "Jia Zheng", and lived a life with him from a child, managed household affairs for him. The life experience of the fourth daughter "Jia Xi Chun" has doubtful points. Although "Xichun" is changed as the daughter of "Jia Jing" in today's version, the younger sisiter of "Jia Zhen", we may also infer that she was the daughter of "Jia Zheng" in the early manuscript from her age, residence and the relation with "Ning Kokufu". In the first draft, there was no "Ning Kokufu". After "Feng Yue Bao Jian" being moved inside of Dream of the Red Chamber, the "Qin elder sister and younger brother" the "You sisters", "Jia Zhen", "Jia Rong" and the "Ning Kokufu" were presented. "Xichun" came into "Ning" from "Rong" and was corrected as the younger sisiter of "Jia Zhen". In today's version, "Ning" and "Rong" has distinct contrast, the former is simple, the latter is complicated, and it forms a system of two stories because the subjectival story was written before the subplot was added. Therefore, the relationship among the whole show was quite different between the eary draft and today's version. The expansion of "Jia" starting late, and the early death of the author, makes the pandect have no final version, makes a lot unsolved riddle left.In the early time of creating Dream of the Red Chamber, the novel was on the subject of love, full of freshness because of less personal experience. With the increase of age and experience, the author realized life and society more and more deeply, especially after going through all kinds of hardships and difficulties. Therefore, during more than ten years, the author gradually added many characters, such as "Jia She" and "Ning", which has formed present-day scope. With the relationship being adjusted and modified many times, today's version is quite different from the first draft, which enriches more critical realism. The theme of Dream of the Red Chamber achieves great reunification between idealism and realism. |
