Since the middle of last century, the exploration on the concept of space in visual art has been turned from physical space which emphasize visual forms to in-between space and mental space which stress comprehensive perception experience. The 'Mono-ha' one of the Japanese modern art school which was sprang up in 1970s build the eastern modern art by wisely combining eastern tradition idea of Zen, Taoism and western art forms aimed at the phenomenon that the modert art in Japan is fully captivated by the western culture, at the same time it sympathized at the context of space exploration and greatly enriched the non-visual space language by its unique way of perception from the perspective of oriental space aesthetics.This paper attempts to analyse the space concept in the "Mono-ha" by the "Ma" which is the Japanese distinctive cognition of time and space and the concept of "field"in visual art,while grasping this unique way of perception and the system of understanding, I pay more attention to its interpretation and extension in the "Mono-ha"and the "Post Mono-ha".At the last, I try to present my understanding of "non-visuality space" which is enlighten by the space concept of the "Mono-ha" and discuss its significance in contemporary art and the possibility of further expansion.
