Strengthening His Power: Chiang Kai-Shek In Jiangxi Province (1926.9-1927.3)

Since the Northern Expedition force led by the commander-in-chief Chiang Kai-Shek came to Hunan and Hubei from Guangdong in 1926 summer, its military and political status was seriously challenged which put it in harsh situation. Thus the force headed for Jiangxi province in mid—September and resided for six months. When Chiang Kai-Shek left Jiangxi province in mid-March 1927, its military, economic, political and diplomatic aspects are already accumulated tremendous strength which laid a foundation for purging the party and establishing another central government."The half year of stationing of Chiang Kai-Shek's troops in Jiangxi province"had an important impact on his military and political career. It also was a twist in his life. The central thesis of this paper was Chiang Kai-Shek's power developing history during stationing in Jiangxi province.This paper, based on historical insist and focused on empirical research, in the dual goal of restoring history facts and solving central thesis, it was divided into four major problems, and thus composed the four chapter of this paper: the first part, focused on the Northern Expedition's effect to Commander-in-Chief Chiang Kai-Shek's status, and thus occupied Jiangxi province is the basis of strengthening his power; the second part was the top priority of this article, it attempted to start from various angles to restore Chiang Kai-Shek's all kinds of policies of extending his power; the third part discussed the continuation of Chiang Kai-Shek's strengthening, focus on the creation of Nanchang the center of KMT, operation and even its function at the end. What's more, this part would do a discussion on Chiang Kai-Shek's attitude during this period. The fourth part focused on the relationship between Chiang Kai-Shek and the Communist Party before purging the party. Make Jiangxi province as the basis to explore the micro reasons of purging the party which corresponded to the sentence of gaining momentum.
