The Analysis And Suggestion On The TCSOL Of China (2001-2010)

As a subject which originally emerged in China, Teaching Chinese as a Second Other Language (TCSOL) has been improved greatly for more than 50 years and beard fruit quietly under the efforts by academic generations. In the year 2005, the concept of "International Chinese" came out, which means TCSOL would more focus on the overseas learners. During this procedure, we got fast development as well as tough obstacles. All the above reminded us to review the foundations of this science, and then we found that most concluding and carding work on this subject was always so simple that we can hardly get the deep-going and statistical research.This paper focus on the contents and methods of this research based on the statistical research and analysis of 3058 pieces of papers(2001-2010) from the magazines "Chinese Language Teaching" "Language Teaching and Linguistic Studies" "Chinese Language Learning" "TCSOL Studies" and "Journal of Yunnan Normal University(Teaching and Research on Chinese as a Foreign Language Edition)". In this paper, I would learn about the achievements and insufficiencies of TCSOL. In this paper, I found that from 2001 to 2010, TCSOL in China has been greatly improved, such as the scale-growth of the research, the scope of the research expanded, the depth of study increased and study methods become more and more. Meanwhile, some disadvantages appear that mainly put out as follows:the gap between macro and micro visual study, the gap between study teaching and social demands, the gap between theories and practice, and the gap between quantitative and qualitative research. All the mentioned above are caused by some sophisticated reasons, which include the limitations from the contracture of the subject, the education of the researchers, the habituation and tradition of the science, and the use of the references abroad.Based on the research that mentioned above, this paper will give three suggestions for the references, which are Insist on the research approach of the combination of social need and practical application, Pay attention to the research contents of the combination of macro and micro, Trying interdisciplinary and diversified research method. Besides, Insisting on the discipline development of the combination of unity and uniqueness is also remanded. The most important is acknowledging of the new trends of International Popularization of Chinese Language (IPCL), meeting the social need, improving research approach, research contents and research method. All the efforts would be helpful in TCSOL and its IPCL.
