His various descriptions become the window from which western learn about China, and are the typical of Chinese image research in the imagologie sense. In comparative literature study, images of China in the writings of Matteo Ricci plays an important role, but the research achievements are not rich enough, and need further broadening and deepening.This thesis attempts to Notes of Matteo Ricci in China as the main text, and employs the imagologie as the main research method, with the help of accepting aesthetics, new historicism and cultural relativism, and discourse the image of China in the writings of Matteo Ricci and its usage in the reference and practical significance from the two dimensions of utopia and ideology.The thesis is divided into four parts.The first part introduced Matteo Ricci in China and defined the concept of the image of China in order to determine the issue of perspective and scope of the study, describe the academic research on the image of China in the writings of Matteo Ricci, explain the academic research value, practical significance, specific research objectives and methods. The second part will compare the image of China in the wrtings of Matteo Ricci with others under the background of China's image rheology, study how he established the connecting link status in the China's image formation process, and explore the power lines of the culture development behind symbols:Text only continued the spirit power of discovering the New World, but also triggered the Enlightenment and provide thinking arsenal to Voltaire and others.
