Humor Studies Of Northeastern Dialect

Last two decades, the northeastern dialect comedy sketches and film works has aroused popular interest, so the northeastern dialect has been known throughout the world. The northeastern dialect of comedy has been acknowledged by linguists, literary scholars, and humor scholars, but none have given much attention to the causes, the definition, the characteristics, and the types of northeastern dialect. A broader and more thorough study of northeastern humor can inform language and humor study by observing how language is created and linguistic competence are reflected in speakers'uses of the northeastern dialect humor.From the first part, explores many areas of folk culture, culture, drama and literature. The description of dialect humor is based on the theory of the carnival culture which reveals the style of the northeasterner dialect Humor is as the same as the speech act features of the people in Carnival cultures. Then, descripts the type of integration of verbal humor, this dissertation argues that the character of northeastern dialect humor is hot humor, clown humor and vulgar humor. Initially establish a northeastern dialect humorous style system. The second part descripts the language factor of northeastern dialect, the voice, the vocabulary and the semantics. Moreover, how Northeast dialect attitudes are reflected in and perpetuated by the presence of northeastern dialect humor is discussed as a pragmatic function informing the Northeast people use and understanding of humor; the existence of Northeast humor reflects a good deal of that understanding.
