| Justice Bao is a legendary figure. He lived during the Song Dynasty. Although he was just a middle ranking judge during his life time, he was turned into a legend after he passed away in 1062 AD. The stories of Justice Bao went on from strength to strength since his demised in the form of Yuan Za Ju (元杂剧) till today's 'Justice Bao' television series. This thesis will examine the reasons behind its popularity, a comparison was made between the concepts of Rule by Man and Rule by Law and its respective strength and weaknesses. Finally, this thesis seeks to reconcile the seemingly conflicting concepts of Rule by Man and Rule by Law and the relevancy of Justice Bao television series in this modern era. |
