The Dai Ethnic Nationality in Xishuangbanna almost believes in Theravada Buddhism whose dogma has greatly influenced daily lives of the Dai Ethnic Nationality.《Wei xian da la》jataka is one of them.The author carried out several surveys of Buddhist ceremony in villages of the Dai Ethnic Nationality in Meng Long domain, adopting the methods like field investigation to put in Meng Long domain into study from the angle of ethnomusicology. The author firstly fully understands the functions of Theravada Buddhism to religious ideas, emotions and activities in that village from the microscopic level; secondly deeply describes the functions of recite classics of《Wei xian da la》in passing religious believes, affecting believers'ideas and shaping the behavior patterns; At last, from the macroscopic level unscrambles recite classics of《Wei xian da la》so as to deeply explore the intimate relations between recite and local cultures.This paper is divided into four parts. In introduction, the author gradually elaborates the origin of this paper, the meaning of selection, objective, the situation in the back, object and case selection, and the study method. In studying the situation in the back, the author combs the situation of the Dai Ethnic Nationality, ritual music, and music ethnography, finds out the space of the studies, and points out starting point of the paper. In object and case selection, the author demonstrates the concrete object and the cause of case selection. In study method, the author illustrates the argument and study methods and points out innovation.Particular musical form always happens in its particular cultural background. For building a full social background and cultural context the author simply introduces《Wei xian da la》in the first chapter, and its situation of spreading in Xishuangbanna and its status in Theravada Buddhism, and simultaneously summarize the culture of folk-custom, Theravada Buddhism, and music.The second chapter objectively and in detail describes the time, place and participants of recite classics in Theravada Buddhism in the Dai Ethnic Nationality in the sample of Dan"marhaban" and lays the foundation of put it into the cultural background in the Dai Ethnic Nationality.The third chapter concretely describes the music itself in《Wei xian da la》, applies the whole horizon of music by semiology of music master"Jean Molino", that is neutral layers, creating layers and perception layers to analyze the elements of recite classics in《Wei xian da la》. The fourth Chapter in the center of《Wei xian da la》recite classics puts《Wei xian da la》in recite classics in Theravada Buddhism in Man Tang village into cultural background, and unscrambles the music of Theravada Buddhism in Man Tang village from the angle of anthropology through music activities and its elements and music experiences of culture holders. The author analyzes and interprets the introduction courses of《Wei xian da la》recite classics and its meaning from the believes and values of recite classics.
