An experimental study of the effect of ashitaba chalcone on antioxidant ability of bearing H22 hepatoma cells in mice. Objective:To explore the effect of Ashitaba Chalcone (AC) on antioxidant ability of bearing H22 hepatoma cells in mice. Methods:50 mice were randomly divided into 5 groups,10 mice per group, after inoculated with H22 hepatoma into their right axillas hypodermic by intravenous injection, and then injected with normal saline, cytoxan(CTX), low, medium and high dosage of AC. In second group, mice were given AC by oral gavage he same way cancer saline control group, mice were injected intraperitoneally CTX (20mg/kg) every other day one time. In latter 3 groups, mice were daily given AC by oral gavage, with dose of 8mg/kg,16mg/kg,32mg/kg respectively, for 10 days. All mice were killed after 10 days, and tumor tissues were detected by serum levels of various immunohistochemistry indicators, such as lipid peroxide (MDA), superoxide (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), and the proliferation activity of hepatocarcinoma cells was determined by MTT assay. Results:AC dose group, especially in the high dose group can significantly improve the antioxidant capacity of mouse cells, the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05); The cell proliferation activity of tumor control group and high-dose group were 1.135±0.032 and 0.716±0.018. The difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). Conclusion:AC can enhance the antioxidant capacity and inhibit the proliferative activity of mice hepatocarcinoma cells.
