Objetive:Through the analysis of risk factors and the expression of ghrelin in esophageal mucosa of patients with Barrett's esophagus, preliminary study of the relationship between them.Methods:111 patients with Barrett's esophagus 50 cases of NERD and 30 control subjects were enrolled in this study. The clinical data of all these patients was abtained through questionnaire. All specimens underwent routine pathological examination and Ghrelin expression was detected by immunohistochemistry.Result:The age of BE group was older than NERD group and control group (P<0.05);The prevalence of alcohol intake in BE group was higher than that in NERD groups and control group (P<0.05); The duration of the LSBE was longer than SSBE (P<0.05); the age of LSBE group was older than SSBE group(P<0.05).The expression of Ghrelin in BE group were higher than that in NERD group and control group (P<0.05); the expression of Ghrelin in the intestinal metaplasia group were higher than that in the cardia metaplasia and the gastric metaplasia group (P<0.05), and there was no difference between LSBE group and SSBE group (P> 0.05)Conclusions:Older age, alcohointake and duration of the GERD symptom increase the risk of BE; SSBE eventually may progress to LSBE. The expression of Ghrelin upregulates in BE.
