Objective To investigate the expression of Cyclin A and P27 in primary ovarian cancer, and their relationship with clinicpathologic characters, and the correlation between expression of clinicpathologic in ovarian cancer. To provide new indicator for the prognosis of ovarian cancer. Methods Cyclin A and P27 protein in 51 cases of ovarian cancer,13 cases of benign ovary tumors and 15 cases of normal ovary tissues were examined by immunohistochemical staining. The relativity between this expression and the benign or malignant, pathologic grade, clinical stage were analyzed. Results There were no different expressions of Cyclin A and P27 protein between the benign ovary tumors and normal ovary tissues. The expression of Cyclin A was increased in the ovarian cancer. There was an inverse relationship between the expression of P27 and the histological tumor grades. On the other hand, the expression of Cyclin A which was enhanced in ovarian cancer appeared in a reverse way. Their expression had a negative correlation. Conclusion Abnormal expression of Cyclin A and P27 promote the development of ovarian cancer. The expressions of Cyclin A and P27 protein might be considered as a index to assess the aggressieness and prognosis of oarian cancer.
