Objective Animal models of orthodontic tooth movement were established in rats, To observe the expression of Integrin-am in trigeminal ganglion (TG),spinal trigeminal nucleus(Vsp) and cerebral cortex of rats during experimental orthodontic tooth movement, to investigate the role of Integrin-am in chronic pain,Learn more about chronic pain in the nerve conduction pathway of early orthodontic treatment. In order to provide reference support for oral clinic employmentMethods 60 adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were used.Rats were randomly divided into control and experimental groups,30 rats in each group. The control group rats were randomly divided into 6 sub-groups (n=5),and were killed after 0d,ld,2d,3d,4d,and 5d,without any treatment. According to the time of orthodontic forces,the experimental group rats were divided intold,2d,3d,4d,and 5d together 5 sub-groups (n=6) nickel-titanium springs were placed between the right maxillary first molar and maxillary central incisors of rats, the rats were killed after ld,2d,3d,4d,and 5d, Integrin-am expression was examined with immunohistochemistry technique in trigeminal gaglion(TG),spinal trigeminal nucleus(Vsp) and cerebral cortexResults Control group shows very little expression of Integrin-am in trigeminal gaglion(TG),spinaltrigeminal nucleus(Vsp) and cerebral cortex,orthodontic forces can induce Integrin-am expression in these regions,with the time (1-5d), the expression of Integrin-am increased gradually, compared with the control group there were significant differences (P<0.01). At the same time within the three regions compared to the expression of Integrin-am, there was no significant differences between the control group(P>0.05), The expression of Integrin-am in trigeminal ganglion (TG) is lowest, and in cerebral cortex is hightest, the expression of Integrin-am in spinal trigeminal nucleus(Vsp) between the two regions, There were significant differences in the three regions (P<0.05).Conclusion The expression of Integrin-am trigeminal ganglion (TG),spinal trigeminal nucleus(Vsp) and cerebral cortex increased after orthodontic forces,the results are showed Integrin-am might participate in inflammatory reaction in early orthodontic treatmeat, Integrin-am closely related with the pain response after orthodontic treatmeat.
