| Objective:To observe the therapeutic effects of budesonide/formoterol treatment of children with moderate asthma, especially for small airway function. Methods:we selected 40 cases of children with moderate asthma who were doctored in asthma specialist clinic of the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University Medical College. All cases in the past had not received formal inhaled corticosteroid treatment, they all were given Symbicort Turbuhaler (budesonide/formoterol inhale) inhaling, size 80/4.5μg, each time a smoke, twice a day, a total of 12 weeks. After treatment of 4,8 and 12 weeks,we assessed the control level of asthma, determinated pulmonary function and observed the occurrence of adverse events. Lung function results before and after treatment were compared, and at the same time condition is estimated.Results:(1) Clinical control situation:Before treatment,40 cases of selected children are not controlled; after 12 weeks of treatment,36 patients were clinically fully controlled (90%),4 cases were partially controlled (10%), total effective rate was 100%. (2) Improvement of pulmonary function:in the first 4 weeks after treatment, pulmonary function indices were significantly improved, and at 12 weeks of follow-up process, these indicators have continued to improve. After 12 weeks of treatment, all lung function indices improved significantly compared with that of before treatment, especially FEF75%,FEF50% and FEF25% whose percentage of predicted value were 80.26%, 81.89% and 80.48% individually, they all raised to normal levels. And they increased by 34%,29% and 29% individually compared with that of before treatment. There were significant differences (P<0.01). (3)Adverse events:In this study, adverse events were observed:2 cases of 40 children had hoarseness,1 case has dizziness, they were all in lesser extent, didn't require special treatment. Conclusions:Symbicort Turbuhaler in treatment of children with moderate asthma have good results in alleviating symptoms and improving lung function particulaly in improving small airway functions of asthmatic children, allow them achieve asthma control or partial control. And, they have a low incidence of adverse events, good compliance, are worthy of clinical application. |
