Objective:In order to investigate the expression of CD1a molecules, CC chemokine ligand 20 (CCL20/MIP-3 alpha) and its receptor CC chemokine receptor 6 (CCR6) in the cervical carcinoma, so as to appraise their roles in the partial area immune effects and the improvement of cervical carcinoma.Methods:Sixty-seven cases of paraffin-embeded tissues from cervical cancer paired with fifteen cases of paraffin-embeded tissues from normal epithelium were included. PV-6000 immunohistochemical method was applied to analyze the expression of CD1a molecules, CCL20/MIP-3a and CCR6 in different tissues. The number of CD1a molecule positive cells was counted and the CCL20/MIP-3a was analyzed, further more so did the CCR6. CCL20/MIP-3a and CCR6 expression was compared with clinical parameters of tumor. Results:There was a decline in the density of immature CD1a+dendritic cells in the cervical cancer areas (8.58±2.01) compared with the normal cervical tissues (11.23±3.35)(P<0.01). The positive rates of CCL20/MIP-3a in normal epithelium was 86.7% and it was significantly higher than it in the cervical cancer issues 34.3%(P<0.01). The positive expression of CCR6 in the normal cervical tissues was 93.3% and 41.8% in the cervical carcinoma, there was a significant different between the two kinds of tissues (P<0.01). The positive rates of CCL20/MIP-3 alpha and CCR6 were significantly higher in the cancer who has the lymph node metastasis; CCL20/MIP-3 alpha expression showed a significantly negative association with FIGO staging (P<0.05)Conclusions:The decrease of immature CD1a+dendritic cells was due to the low expression of CCL20/MIP-3a and its receptor CCR6 in cervical cancer, consequently the insufficient of APC led to the suppression of cervical immune function; at the same time, the change of CCL20/MIP-3a and its receptor CCR6 in the tissues that lymph node metastasis, so the changing of CCL20/MIP-3a and its receptor CCR6 may play an important role in the immune escape of cervix district and the improvement of cervical carcinoma.
