As a special relationship which takes place in the process of medical treatment, the Relationship between medical staff and patients is the key to medical interpersonal relationship. In recent years, it is quite obvious that quality of medical services has been raised, environment of medical treatment has been improved and medical equipment and technology have been advanced. However, the mutual confidences between medical staff and patients have been declined. For medical staff and patients, the relationship between them is one of sensitive topics at all times. Since there are more medical disputes and their influences are stronger than before, both doctors and patients have paid more attention to the relationship between them. In this way, the issue on medical disputes is a social problem rather than a simple medical problem. Therefore, establishing a harmonious relationship between medical staff and patients becomes an important item which deserves our further research.The paper explores the relationship between medical staff and patients from five parts as follows:In the first part, background information of the research is introduced, including the current studies in the country and abroad, research intention and signification. The methodology and schemes applied in the research are also included.In the second part, it expatiates the essential of the relationship and other special relations between the two sides, such as, legal, economic, moral and benefit relations.In the third part, it presents the current relationship between medical staff and patients in China, which can be divided as three aspects. Firstly, confidence between the two sides has been declined. Secondly, there are more medical disputes and violent collisions in hospital. Thirdly, the patients and their families begin to call higher compensations and resort to violence to solve such problems. This paper also analyzes that issues between hospitals and patients affect not only both sides but also social harmony and stabilization. In the fourth part, it designs some questionnaires and investigates the relationship between medical staff and patients in a certain public hospital. The contents of questionnaires include the both sides'understandings to their relationship, analysis on cause and effect of medical disputes, mutual communication, medical ethics and the way to improve their relationship, etc.In the fifth part, it brings forward some countermeasures based on questionnaire results to improve the relationship from four aspects, such as, readjusting related medical systems, improving the general abilities of medical staff, identifying the patient's role in a normal relationship and establishing a fine medical environment.
