Objective:Evaluating differences intellectual level and structure of children with epilepsy and normal children,Exploring clinical characteristics of variety of factors that affect it,In order to guide the rational clinics and avoid intelligence damage.Methods: 53 children with epilepsy and 54 healthy volunteers were evaluated with similarities test,digit span test,block design test and coding test in Wechsler Intelligence scale for children-chinese edition( C-WISC). Collecting general information and clinical data of epilepsy children(Different etiology types,Types of epileptic seizure,Frequency of seizure,Duration of seizure,Age of seizure onset,Course of disease,Electroencephalogram(EEG),CT,MRI and Quantity of antiepileptic drug).Comparing differences of the two groups of children in general information and intellectual level and structure by Chi-square test and T test.Comparing differences of FIQ and 4 sub-test scores by F test in different etiology types,different seizure types,frequency of seizures different scopes of EEG discharge and discharge subclinical . Exploring the relationship between various clinical characteristics and intellectual level and structure of children with epilepsy by single-factor correlation analysis.Selecting main clinical features that affect intellectual level and structure of children with epilepsy by multiple linear stepwise regression.Results::①FIQ and four sub-test scores children with epilepsy were lower than the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05)②Comparing results of children's intelligence test of children with epilepsy of different clinical characteristics:FIQ,similarities and block design scores test of secondary epilepsy group were lower than primary epilepsy group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the overall difference of FIQ,similarities, block design and coding test scores of three groups with different seizure types of scores were statistically significant(P<0.05);the overall difference of FIQ,similarities and digit span test scores of three groups with different seizure frequency were statistically significant(P<0.05);The overall difference of FIQ,similarities,digit span and block design test scores of three groups with different ranges of EEG discharge seizure were statistically significant(P<0.05);FIQ,similarity, and digit span test scores of subclinical discharge group lower than without subclinical discharge group(P<0.05);The overall difference of similarities and digit span and block design test scores of three groups with different range of EEG discharge seizure were statistically significant(P<0.05);③Correlation analysis:FIQ have a negative correlation with 5 factors(Seizure frequency,Duration of attack,Course of disease, Ranges of EEG discharge and The number of drug),otherwise,which have a positive correlation with age of onset; Scores of the similarity test have a negative correlation with Course of disease,scopes of EEG discharges and the number of drug,otherwise,which have a positive correlation with age of onset;Scores of the digit span test have a negative correlation with seizure frequency,duration of attack and ranges of EEG discharge;Scores of the block design test have a negative correlation with duration of attack, Course of disease, scopes of EEG discharges and the number of drug;Scores of the coding test have a negative correlation with duration of attack.④Multiple linear stepwise regression analysis: Factors of entering into FIQ equations were Secondary generalized seizures or not, Generalized seizures or not,scopes of EEG discharges,duration of attack and the number of drug.Factor of entering into the regression equation of the similarity test was secondary generalized seizures or not;Factors of entering into the regression equation of the digit span were seizure frequency,secondary generalized seizures were or not;Factors of entering into the regression equation of the block design were scopes of EEG discharges,duration of attack;Factors of entering into the regression equation of the coding test were generalized seizures or not and duration of seizure.All independent variables were negatively correlated with FIQ and scores of four sub-testConclusion:①This study showed that intelligence level and structure of children with epilepsy in the normal range,relatively healthy volunteers.②Clinical features(Cause of epilepsy,Seizure type,Seizure frequency,Seizure duration,Age of onset,Course of disease,Scopes of EEG discharges and the number of drug) have close ties with intelligence level and intelligence structure.Especially,the seizure type,the number of drug,duration of attack and ranges of EEG discharges have greater impact on FIQ.
