Objectives:Observe clinical efficacy of acupuncture and massage combined with chinese medicine in patients with Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy.Through the 20 poins scale of symptoms and signs and functional status, MPQ pain scale and laboratory tests which adopted international and widely, evaluate the clinical effect of comprehensive treatment scientifically, probe into its mechanismthe, provide reliable evidence and guidelines for clinical application of this method. Methods:During June 2009 to January 2010,80 cases of patients with Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy which were selected from the acupuncture clinic or hospitalized of Wuhan Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western medicine were involved in the clinical observation. All patients were randomly divided into treatment group (acupuncture and massage combined with chinese medicine), control group 1 (acupuncture combined with massage), control group 2 (acupuncture combined with chinese medicine), control group 3 (massage combined with chinese medicine), every 20 cases in each group. Every group was treated one time every day,6 days a course, rest one day between two courses. When each treatment ended, observed and analysis the clinical curative effect of each patient objectively, through the 20 poins scale of symptoms and signs and functional status, MPQ pain scale and the content of plasma SP and TNF-a.Results:1.Comparison of comprehensive therapeutic effect:After one course of treatment, the total effective rate of treatment group and control groups was 65%,25%,26.3%,25%.The treatment group was better than control groups, and the difference has statistically significant (P<0.05); The healed and significant effective rate of treatment group and control groups was 40%,5%,5.3%,5%.The treatment group was better than control groups, and the difference has statistically significant (P<0.05). After two courses of treatment, the total effective rate of treatment group and control group was 100%,90%,89.5%,85%.The treatment group was better than control groups, and the difference has statistically significant (P<0.05); The healed and significant effective rate of treatment group and control groups was 95%,60%,63.16%,60%.The treatment group was better than control groups, and the difference has statistically significant (P<0.05).2. Comparison of the 20 poins scale of symptoms and signs and functional status:Compared points of all groups before treatment, which has no significant difference (P> 0.05).Compared the change of each group before and after one course of treatment. All groups have significant differences (P <0.01).Analysis points after one course of treatment between the treatment group and control groups. The treatment group was higher than control groups, and the differences have statistically significant (P<0.05). Compared the change of each group before and after two course of treatment. All groups have significant differences (P<0.01).Analysis points after two course of treatment between the treatment group and control groups. The treatment group was higher than control groups, and the differences have statistically significant (P <0.05).3. Comparison of MPQ pain scale:Compared points of PRI,VAS and PPI of all groups before treatment, which have no significant differences (P> 0.05).Compared the change of each group before and after one course of treatment. All groups have significant differences (P<0.01).Analysis points of PRI,VAS and PPI after one course of treatment between the treatment group and control groups. The treatment group was lower than control groups, and the differences have statistically significant (P<0.05). Compared the change of each group before and after two course of treatment. All groups have significant differences (P<0.01).Analysis points of PRI,VAS and PPI after two course of treatment between the treatment group and control groups. The treatment group was lower than control groups, and the differences have statistically significant (P<0.05).4. Comparison of the content of plasma SP:Compared the content of plasma SP of all groups before treatment, which has no significant difference (P>0.05). The content of plasma SP of each group was reduced significantly after treatment (p<0.01), and the treatment group was more apparent when compared with other controls (p<0.05).5.Comparison of the content of plasma TNF-a:Compared the content of plasma TNF-a of all groups before treatment, which has no significant difference (P> 0.05). The content of plasma TNF-a of each group was reduced significantly after treatment (p<0.01), and the treatment group was more apparent when compared with other controls (p<0.05).Conclusions:Research showed that acupuncture and massage combined with Chinese medicine for Cervical Spondylotic Radiculopathy has definite effect. Whether the healed and significant effective rate or the improvement of the scale of symptoms and signs and functional status and MPQ pain scale,The treatment group was better than control groups. Reducing the content of plasma SP and TNF-a maybe one of its mechanisms.
