Objective:In chronic hepatitis C has been established (CHC) TCM syndrome type specification, the initial symptoms of a clear law of CHC on the basis of traditional Chinese medicine, combined with interferon observe the effect of the basic side of Integrative Medicine Clinical Comprehensive efficacy of CHC with interferon therapy alone comparison of its efficacy and possible mechanisms for the formation of safe and effective treatment of CHC s Integrative Medicine clinic to provide clinical basis for the program.Research MethodsClinical research methods used to collect in December 2008-2009 in October in Shenzhen Third People's Hospital,69 outpatients and inpatients. According to whether the patient has anti-viral indications, HCV-RNA positive for interferon therapy and were enrolled in the voluntary use of traditional Chinese medicine for the Integrative Medicine Group; period of 30 selected HCV RNA-positive patients with chronic hepatitis C as a comparison group. HCV-RNA positive but anti-virus contraindications were enrolled in the basic side groups of traditional Chinese medicine; three year course of treatment patients were followed up for one year. Were recorded demographic data, duration of disease, Chinese medicine symptom points, chronic liver disease questionnaire (CLDQ) points, genotyping, biochemical laboratory tests, HCV-RNA, medication side effects of a comprehensive comparative analysis of information on the efficacy of each group, side effects incidence and quality of life in patients improve the situation.ResultsThe study found that symptoms of CHC patients with liver-based medicine, accounting for 48% of all patients. Integrated Traditional and Western medicine group and the group standings TCM symptoms after treatment compared with only western points were significantly improved, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Three groups of patients before and after treatment quality of life scale for chronic liver disease did not differ between integrals is not obvious. During the three groups of patients in the treatment of biochemical ALT, AST compare the treatment for 3 months and 12 months after the combination of Chinese and Western medicine group and the group improved significantly compared with only western group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Three patients in the TCM group, the level of HCV RNA than the other two small changes, and Integrative Medicine group at 24 and 36 weeks decreased the level of great than the other two groups. Observation indicates that traditional Chinese medicine to reduce visible interferon and ribavirin side effects, which reduce flu-like symptoms and reduce bone marrow suppression, autoimmune antibody formation obviously. The adverse effects of Chinese medicine, mostly diarrhea.ConclusionClinical observation of 69 patients the results showed that traditional Chinese medicine treatment of hepatitis C with interferon in the protection of the liver, is effective to reduce side effects, and can actively improve the quality of life of patients. The antiviral medicine alone is not obvious.
