Camellia oleifera Abel is belong to Camellia Linn of Theaceae. It is mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical regions. In China it is distributed in southwest and southeast, across 17 provinces. The medicinal parts of these plants are oil, seed, root, flower, leaf and so on. It contains many chemical constituents including saponins, flavonoids ,tannins and so on.The pharmacological effects is anti-inflammatory , anti-bacterial, ant-mutation and so on. To explore the potentialvalue the root of Camellia oleifera Abel, We studied the chemical constituents of the Camellia oleifera Abel on the basis of previous research. We gain 28 compounds from root with 70% ethanol extract by using of resin, silica gel, ODS silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, medium pressure column chromatography and semi-preparative.And20 were identified by chemical propertyes, and spectroscop analyses. They wereβ-sitosterol(1),β-daucostero(2), pentadecanoic acid(3), p-benzoic acid (4) dibatylphthalate(5),m-benzoic acid(6), protocatechuic acid(7), 21β, 22α-O-diangeloylTheasapogenol E(8) 21β-angeloyl-22α-O-2-methylbutyrylTheasapogenol E(9), 21β,22α-O-diangeloyl- R1-barrigenol(10) 21β-O-angeloyl-22α-O-2-methylbutyryl-R1-barrigenol(11) oleiferaolⅠ(12), oleiferaolⅡ(13), 22α-O-angeloy- barrigenolA1(14), 21β, 22α-O-diangeloyl-barringtogenol C(15), 21β-O-angeloyl-22α-O-2-methylbutyryl-barringtogenol C(16), oleiferaolⅢ(17-1), oleiferaolⅣ(17-2), oleiferaol saponinⅠ(18-1), oleiferaol saponinⅡ(18-2),oleiferaol saponinⅢ(19-1), oleiferaol saponinⅣ(19-2) ,oleiferaol saponinⅤ(20) .AndC8, C9, C11, C12, C13, C16, C17, C18, C19, C20 were new compoundsC3, C4, C6, C10, C14, C15 were obtained from this genus for the first time. This study laid the foundation of the study on Camellia triterpenoids , provides reference standards for the determination of the root of Camellia oleifera Abel study, laid the basis to improve the quality control standards of Camellia oleifera Abel and discuss the role of components of its pharmacodynamic .
