Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effects of the Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in the treatment of upper urinary calculi, comparing with open surgery. Methods: Clinical application of minimally invisive percutaneous nephrolithotomy in 513 cases and open surgery in 208 cases were analyzed. The operation time, eating fluidity food time, cost and hospital stay, the stone clearance rate, complications and the renal function progress were compared. All complications were noted. The data was performed by statistical analysis. Results: In Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) and open surgery, the stone clearance rate was 91.03%(467/513);89.42%(186/208)respectively; the cases which needed intraoperative blood transfusion were 17 and 13 cases, respectively. Two weeks of renal function recovery of renal dysfunction cases after PCNL is better than open surgery. There is statistic significance between them(P<0.05). Conclusions: Minimally invisive percutaneous nephrolithotomy is an excellent form of treatment for kidney nephrolithiasis. It is more reliable, highly effective, rapid and safe procedure than open surgery. PCNL should be the best way for treatment of kidney nephrolithiasis in good conditional hospital.
