PurposeThe way to test Catphan 500 CT scanning phantom, adjusting the scanning parameters of the head CT, analyzing the effects of image quality (spatial resolution and density resolution, noise and evenness) and the radiation dose, and groping appropriate low-dose CT scanning parameters for brain trauma patients. Clinical test and evaluation of image quality, calculation of the radiation dose.Materials and methodsPhantom research:By adjusting the GE Hispeed NX/I CT scanning parameters (mAs, tube voltage, scanning mode, scanning field, etc), the reconstruction image of Catphan 500 CT scanning mode which multiple performance. With the same scanning parameters on the American Model Victoreen company 76-414-415 head body scanning pahntom, the evaluation of different parameters on the effect of patient doses. Using workstations adw 4.3, evaluate scanned image's space resolution, resolution density and image noise. Analysis of experimental results, can be used for low-dose scanning conditions.Clinical verification:We enrolled adult volunteers, by using conventional scanning parameters to scan them.A limited volume data acquisition covering four 5-mm-thick images was obtaining by using low dose scanning parameters. Two radiologists visually rated the resulting images for quality in a blinded comparison. While using the American radiologists Walter Huda research achievements of routine scan parameters estimated under adult patients suffered radiation doses. Using the statistical analysis software.ResultsRotation time constant, reducing tube current, image noise increases, signal-to-noise ratio decrease, image density resolution, space resolution also subsequently decline slightly. Other scanning parameters can also affect the image quality and radiation doses.ConclusionCatphan 500 CT performance phantom can be used in clinical practice groping low-dose CT scanning parameters. In routine scanning conditions, infants suffered radiation doses than adults effectively. In our department, low-dose head CT scans might be especially well suited for use in those who undergo serial examinations over a short follow-up of know lesions, such as bleeds, hydrocephalus, or mass effect from strokes. Low-dose head CT scanning is performed on GE Hispeed NX/I CT mahine by using protocol with the following parameters:120kV voltage, 100mAs, thick layer of 5mm and axial scanning, so every scanning can satisfy diagnostic demand and can obviously reduce the subjects of radiation dose. For differment clinical applications, choosing different scanning parameters, will reduce the patients themselves and the public by ionizing radiation.Effective dose calculation can guide and strengthen the protective work of clinical practice, preventing patients from potential danger ionizing radiation.
