Augmented reality based dental surgery can enhance the immersion of virtual surgery to provide a more realistic virtual surgery environment for training doctors. Currently, in augmented reality based virtual surgery applications, the problems exist in the following two: the requirement of real-time proformance to feedback the human fingertip tactile; the need for better visual effect of the translucent teeth material.This paper mainly studies the modeling and implementation of haptic render in complex scenes with teeth and gum, discusses the design and application of sub-surface scattering model which aims to improve the realism of virtual surgery.The main studies and achievements of thesis are listed as following:From the aspect of dental anatomy and esthetic dentistry, we modify the BSSRDF and sub-surface scattering model in the rendering of human skin, and propose a physical based rendering model for teeth rendering.We research the application of the PHANToM haptic device, and implement a virtual surgery about dental surface inspection.The teeth rendering model we proposed is basically recognized by esthetic dentistry. The virtual dental surface inspection system meets the design requirements, with good interaction.
