Objective: To detect the features of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma subsets in Xinjiang region, and meanwhile to discusses the prevalence of EBV and HHV-8 in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and the relationship between EBV and HHV-8 infection and the subsets of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, we reclassified the non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in Xinjiang region according to 2008 WHO classification standards of lymphatic hematopoietic. Methods: 135 paraffin-embedded specimens of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma were collected in Shihezi University First Affiliated Hospital from 1972 to 2010. In situ hybridization was used to detect the infection of EBV and Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the infection of HHV-8. Based on 2008 WHO classification criteria, these cases were rediagnostic. All data were analyzed by SPSS17.0.Results:(1) According to the 2008 WHO classification criteria of lymphatic hematopoietic system, the major histologic type is DLBCL (59), MALT (16), FL (10). (2) In addition, the highest incidence of NHL is 60-70 age group and the incidence in male is higher than female. (3)The infections of the EBV and HHV-8 in non-Hodgkin's lymphoma were 12.59%(17/15) and 0.74%(1/135), respectively. In T cell lymphoma, DLBCL and FL, the infection of EBV is 55.6%(5/9),5.10%(3/59) and 20%(2/10). In DLBCL patients, only 1 case was detected to infect HHV-8, the infection rate is 0.74%(1/135).Conclusion:(1).The main histological type are DLBCL,MALT and FL. (2) The classification standards of WHO in 2008 is the latest achievements of pathology, clinical and basic research, it is much more operability in the diagnosis. (3) In the Xinjiang region, the infection of EBV and HHV-8 exists in NHL, EBV and HHV-8 may play a role in NHL.
