Empathizing-Systemizing (E-S) theory which comes from the mind-blindness theory of autism is a new theory in the psychological field of autism research. It is a two-factor theory that can explain the cluster of both the social features (the social and communication difficulties) and nonsocial features (the narrow interests, rigid behavior and inlets of abilities) in autism spectrum conditions. This paper reviews the E-S theory's development; connotation and the relevances with other major theories. Also, theoretic reflections and expectations of relationship between dimensions, physiological basis and inspiration to autism are given at the end. |
