| Objective:Based on the pre-done on the subject about the needle-knife surgery results of the posterolateral branches entrapment syndrome of the lumbar nerve, this study is aimed at comparing the curative effects of the new needle-knife approach and general methods of acupuncture treatment for this disease, and analyzing the efficacy of the new needle-knife approach of acupuncture treatment. Methods:According to the diagnostic standards of "Efficacy of TCM Diagnostic Criteria for Certification" prescribed by State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1994, this study concentrates on 59 patients of the posterolateral branches entrapment syndrome of the lumbar nerve. The study begins in dividing these patients randomly into two groups:the treated-by-Knife-needle group and the treated-by-acupuncture group. With the earlier research results of the Knife-needle operations to treat the posterolateral branches entrapment syndrome of the lumbar nerve and new Knife-needle operation procedures, the treated-by-Knife-needle group will be treated once a week,3 times a course of treatment. The treated-by-acupuncture group will be taken the points of the disease side such as:Ashi point, Shenshu, Qihaishu, Dachangshu, L2-L4 Jiaji point, etc, once a day,10 times a course of treatment After a course of treatment, the study will take an assessment of the efficacy of these two treatments and then compare their clinical effects according to severity of pain and JOA.Results:(1)Compared the severity of pain and JOA within the treated-by-Knife-needle group before and after the treatment, the difference found has notable meaning (P< 0.05). (2) Compared the severity of pain and JOA within the treated-by-acupuncture group before and after the treatment, the difference found has notable meaning (P< 0.05). (3)Compared the degrees of how much pain weakens and how much JOA increases within these two groups after their treatments, the difference found has notable meaning(P< 0.05). (4)Compared the clinical effects between the two groups, the difference found has notable meaning(P< 0.05). However, compared the integral efficacies of the two group, the difference found has no notable meaning(P > 0.05).Conclusion:(1)Both Knife-needle therapy and acupuncture can improve the lumber functions of the patients, decrease pain and increase JOA. (2)The Knife-needle therapy has a better clinical effect than acupuncture therapy on decreasing pain and increasing JOA. (3)The Knife-needle therapy has a better clinical effect than acupuncture therapy in the posterolateral branches entrapment syndrome of the lumbar nerve. (4)Knife-needle is a good therapy for the patients of posterolateral branches entrapment syndrome of the lumbar nerve because of its fast effect and short course of treatment. |
