Expression Of Osteopontin In Serum Of Patients With The Endometriosis And Its Clinical Significance

Objective:To investigate the content of osteopontin (OPN) in serum of patients with endometriosis(EMs),and to study the role of osteopontin on the pathogenesis of endometriosis as well as the diagnostic and clinical value of serum osteopontin.Methods:The thirty patients with ovary endometriosis(study group)and thirty benign ovarian tumor patients without ovary endometriosis(control group) were collected by laparoscopic surgery and pathology.Patients with endometriosis were grouped by the Revised American Fertility Society (R-AFS) stags.7 patients atⅡstages,12 patients at 111 stages and 11 patients at IV stages.The preoperative and postoperative serum levels of osteopontin in patients with and without endometriosis were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results:1,The OPN in the preoperative and postoperative serum of study group and control group was detected.The preoperative level of serum OPN from the study group (20.80±8.79ng/ml) were higher than that from the control group(10.10±4.67ng/ ml,P<0.01) and the postoperative level of serum OPN from the study group (11.23±5.70ng/ml,P<0.01). There was no obvious difference in the content of serum OPN from control group between preoperation and postoperation (9.63±5.45ng/ml,P> 0.05).2,There was no obvious difference in the content of serum OPN betweenⅡstages (11.55±2.23ng/ml) and control group(P>0.05).However,the OPN levels in serum of patients with EMs inⅢstage(18.89±3.75ng/ml) andⅣstage(28.78±8.44 ng /ml)were higher than control group (P<0.01).The levels of serum OPN in different R-AFS stages was obviously different,it was increased with the R-AFS stages(18.89±3.75ng/ml vs.11.55±2.23ng/ml,P<0.05)(28.78±8.44ng/ml vs.18.89±3.75ng/ml, P< 0.01).Moreover,the level of serum OPN was correlated with R-AFS stages (r=0.771, P<0.01).Conclusions: 1,The level of OPN in the serum from patients with EMs may have a certain application value in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis.2,The level of OPN was correlated with R-AFS stages,which suggests that OPN may have a relation with the severity of the disease and play some roles on the occurrence and development of EMs.3,The level of OPN in the postoperative serum of study group was significantly lower than that of preoperation.Monitoring the dynamic of serum OPN may contribute to judge the efficacy of operation and prognosis of patients with EMs.
