Objective:To raise the recognition of interstitial lung pattern caused by chronic heart diseases. Methods:We reported three cases of interstitial lung pattern caused by chronic heart diseases including congenital heart disease PDA,cardiomyopathy and coronary heart disease. The characteristics and the process of the cases were retrospectively analyzed. The mechanisms responsible for this kind of disease as well as differential diagnosis is discussed. Results:The elevation of pulmonary venous pressure due to cardiac insufficiency is responsible for the mechanism. Radiology images present interstitial abnormalities which include the dilation of upper pulmonary vein, diffuse thickened interlobular septa, reticular pattern, ground-glass opacity and so on.The diagnosis can be suggested by medical history and clinical signs of heart disease, test of cardiac enzyme, heart echocardiography and radiological findings.Once the diagnosis be correct,The prognosis should be improved by effective treatment. Conclusions:Interstitial lung pattern caused by chronic heart diseases is not a rare clinical entity. However it could be confused with other more common causes of IDL,for it is usually hiding on setting and its clinical manifestations are non-specific,which can lead to a significant delay in treatment. Thus, special attention should be paid to this kind of disease, and the clinicians should recognize that an interstitial pattern in the radiology image does not exclude the possibility of pulmonary edema of cardiac origin.
