Expression And Significance Of VEGF-C, VEGF-D And C-erbB-2 In Breast Cancer

Objective:To explore the expression of VEGF-C, VEGF-D and C-erbB-2, the correlation among them and their functions on lymph node metastasis and prognosis in breast cancer.Methods:83 cases of breast cancer patients'paraffin sections were detected by SABC immunohistochemistry method, to analyse positive expression rates of VEGF-C, VEGF-D and C-erbB-2 and the correlation among them, to find out if there are differences between the expression in patients with lymph node metastasis and that with no lymph node metastasis, to analyse the expression of them for survival time.ReSultS:①64 cases expressed VEGF-C, accounting for 77.11%;66cases expressed VEGF-D,accounting for 79.52%.The expression of C-erbB-2 were 57 cases, accounting for 68.67%.②The expression of VEGF-D was associated with the tumor size(JP=0.026).The expression of C-erbB-2 was associated with tumor histological grade(P=0.044).②The expression of VEGF-C and VEGF-D was positively correlated with lymph node metastasis. The number of lymph node metastasis in patients with positive expression of VEGF-C and VEGF-D were more than that in patients with the negative expression of VEGF-C and VEGF-D at a significant level.But the expression of C-erbB-2 was not correlated with the number of lymph node metastasis.④The expression of VEGF-C, VEGF-D and C-erbB-2 linked.⑤The 5-year survival rate of patients was affected by the expression of C-erbB-2, while the expression of VEGF-C and VEGF-D did not affect the prognosis. Cox proportional hazards model showed that C-erbB-2 is an independent prognostic factor(P= 0.007).Conclusions:①he expression of VEGF-C, VEGF-D links the expression of C-erbB-2. The expression of C-erbB-2 promotes the expression of VEGF-C and VEGF-D.②The expression of VEGF-C and VEGF-D is correlated with the number of lymph nodes metastasis.③C-erbB-2 is an independent prognostic factor in breast cancer.
