Objective:To study the effect of gemcitabine in the treatment of cystitis glandularis. Methods:Data of clinical 41 cases were analyzed retrospectively during Jun.2006 to Nov.2010 in the Second Hospital Affiliated to Xinjiang Medical University. The clinical data of 41 cases were divided into two groups. One combined group of 20 cases was treated by transurethral electro-resection combined with bladder instillation of gemcitabine. The other investigation group of 21 cases was treated by transurethral electro-resection as the sole modality. Effects on different group of patients were compared. Results:All patients were diagnosed cystitis glandularis using the biopsy by cystoscope. The main sympotm of the group is urinary frequency, urgency, odynuria and hematuria. One or two days after the surgery, the patients were treated by bladder instillation of gemcitabine once a week.6 weeks later, the patients were treated by instillation every two week. There were 8 times in total. There are no complications, no patients discontinued due to adverse events. The combined group:19 cases were effective, 1 cases were ineffective. The effective rate was 95.0%in the combined group. The control group:13 cases were effective,8 cases were ineffective The effective rate was 61. 9%. P<0.05 The combined group had a higher cure rate than the other group. Conclusion:Transurethral resection and intravesical instillation with gemcitabine is a new effective method of treating cystitis glandularis.
