OBJECTIVE:Establishing the three-dimensional finite element model of the knee including posterolateral structures and analysising the biomechanics of the main posterolateral knee ligament (lateral collateral ligament, popliteal tendon, and PFL) at the model.METHODS:The use of MRI machine scans the knee healthy adult males, access to the knee coronal, sagittal and axial position of the image data, and application of Mimics, Hyperworks and other software, including the establishment, including the knee posterolateral structures finite element model, set the boundary conditions imposed on the model before and after tibial force, internal and external turning moment, internal and external rotation torque, the lateral ligament of the knee after the stress response.RESULTS including the establishment of femur, tibia, patella, fibula, medial and lateral meniscus, articular cartilage, anterior cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament, lateral collateral ligament, popliteal ligament, popliteal tendon, patellar tendon, femoral quadriceps tendon, including the three-dimensional finite element model. In the model of posterolateral structures on the biological mechanics. Limited knee posterolateral knee structures on the tibia backward, inverted, and external rotation has an important role, while the restriction of anterior, valgus and internal rotation is not obvious.CONCLUSIONS:1.Useing the healthy adults body MRI images of knee anatomy to establish a more complete simulation of the detailed three-dimensional finite element model of the knee.2.Useing the three-dimensional finite element model of establishing the stable structure of the posterolateral knee to analysis biomechanical examine through the removal of different knee ligament in the six different condition and the main ligaments of the stress distribution and size of the change, found that the structure of the posterolateral knee external rotation and varus stability play an important role;...
