Survey And Analysis Of Changes About Giant Salamander Resources In Taibai County Shaanxi Province

Chinese giant salamander (Andrias davidianus) is the largest and oldest amphibia animalin the world. The species is currently listed in annex Ⅰ of CITES and in class Ⅱof thenational list of protected animals in China.At2007, the animal was classified as"datadeficient"in the Red Data Book of Endangered Animals of IUCN. Its endangered grade in theChina Red Data Book of Endangered Animals is Critically Endangered, anybody can't pechewithout autorising.In recent years, the national distribution survey results show that the giant salamanderdistribution of resources has shown a sheet/punctate distribution in other places. Taibaicounty is one of the main distribution area of Chinese giant salamanders (Andrias davidanus)in the history. Since1978, less special investigation reports related to the resources of thecounty's giant salamander. Therefore, in order to obtain the distribution of resources andenvironmental conditions of giant salamander in this area, from2011to2012, we establishedmonitoring points, made field trips, measured water quality, surveyed of wild food, andcombined with access to identify the amount and distribution of the existing wild giantsalamander resources, compared to historical records, we acquired the changes of the giantsalamander resources inTaibai county, and concluded：1. The distribution area of wild giant salamander is concentrated in Xushui Rivertributaries, there are about7709wild giant salamander in the river. the artificial breeding ofgiant salamander industry is the initial stage, it principalement distribue inHuangbaiyuan,Er'langba and Taibai town.2. The analysis of water quality monitoring within the survey area showed that thetemperature changement between2-20℃,average water temperature was8-10℃, pH value6.80-8.50, dissolved oxygen6.70-9.50mg/L, suitable for the measurement indicators forfishery water quality standard.3. The vivre influence of giant salamander about nature feed's type and richeCombined with giant salamander predatory, we established monitoring places, comptagethe foods' types and quantites.The result are as follow：3kinds3genera of large crustaceansand2kinds2genera molluscs,8kinds8genera of aquatic insects,6kinds6genera of fishand amphibians belonging to2kinds2genera in this area. Rumsfeld Gui (Phoximuslagowskii Dybowsky) are distributed in the region belong to the dominant species of fish inalmost river by our identification, the others fishes are less.We estimered that there are9839.72kg giant salamanders' food in the river from our collection. Fondement the wild giantsalamanders' population,we think if the salamander want to live, at least10985.3kg/year foodin the river. From the data,we think the wild food is not enough for giant salamander, if thegovernment can't make the right measures, it must influence the salamanders' living. 4. The existing distribution pattern of the main causes of the survey and suggestionsThrough this research, we considered that the main reasons of reduction of wild giantsalamander in this area were for the following five aspects: the impact of mountainHydropower, the reduction of riverbed and expose of habitat cave, nowhere to hide amongthe clouds river pebbles and rocks in the basin, the pollution of mineral development on waterquality and the repeated contamination incidents of fish caused by the temptation ofeconomic interests.What the people's did presser the wild salamander exterminer in someplace.In order to augmenter the distribution sphere and population of the salamander in thecounty, we will give the suggestions as follow:Firstly, The government have to forbid building the Hydropower and extract mining ingiant salamander conservation area.Secondly, In order to increase the salamander's population, the government shouldpromote the artificial reproductive technologies actively and release the breeding salamandersinto rivers in giant salamander conservation area.Thirdly, In order to bulid a healthy environment, the preventing diseases andeffective administration are necessary.Fourthly, to strengthen the protection of natural food resources, forbid all of illegal fishingactivities in giant salamander conservation area, ensure the wild giant salamanders haveenough food resource.
