This paper measured the inhibition effect to Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) by botanical extracts which obtained from30kinds of plants, such as Artemisia Argyi, Radix Isatis and Bupleurum, etc. Then some plants which have higher inhibition effect were selected to blend those extracts, elect synergistic formula and explore the mechanism of action. The screening of anti-TMV botanical extracts was tested with half leaf lesion experiment and disease measuring standard which detected its inactivation to TMV, inhibition on TMV infection and replication systematically. Then potted plant was used to investigate the protection from tobacco mosaic and therapeutic effect, etc. The stability of formula was analyzed under high temperature, illumination and different PH conditions. Furthermore, the author of the paper studied its anti-TMV mechanism of action by analyzing the virus replication in host cells and measuring the activity of related enzymes. As a consequence, experiments indicated that the abstracts from ginkgo, gardenia, phytolacca and red peony root had great anti-virus activity to TMV, whose in vitro passivation, inhibition of infection to TMV and replication were significantly higher than that of other botanicals extract. Moreover, those abstracts had higher protection and therapeutic effect, and the former effect is better than the later. During the complexing experiment, compound-A which including phytolacca-ginkgo-gardenia showed the best synergistic effect. Its protection efficiency was80.21%and53.12%individually and therapeutic effect was95.23%and68.53%respectively after sprayed14days and21days. And then the author of the paper measured the POD,PAL and PPO in sprayed tobacco leaves. The outcome showed that both TMV and compound-A had the resistibility to the inducement of PPO, the mixture of compound-A and TMV could enhance PAL activity, the activity of POD changed most after the treatment with TMV.The results of this study demonstrated that compound-A had higher anti-TMV activity than other compounds which has a great exploitation and utilization prospect.
