Potato is main crop in Leishan, Guizhou, China, where there is a huge potential to develop potato production. To optimize potato production procedure, we screened new potato varieties, test the different cultivation methods in Leishan, Guizhou, China. The results:the potato varieties, B01-31-9,B01-21-1,Chao Mira,B9910-9,9902-4,Xuanshu No.2,2005-1 is medium suitable for the commercial productin in Leishan, Guizhou. They are early maturity varities with smooth tubers with shallow eyes, high yields, very good foliage. Among them, the yield of the variety B01-31-9 is 2962.6 kg/666.7m2,65.4% higher than the control variety Mira.Another test to evaluate the mulching effect with different materials showed mulching with both straw and film increased yields by 30.7%, mulching with straw increased by 15.2%, mulching with film increased by 13.2%, compared with control, the conventional cultivation methods(no mulching). So, it is better to mulch with both straw and film, it is recommended that mulching with film if no enough straw. The fertilization test showed that the yields of OPT treatment(195kg/ha N 195kg/ha P2O5,225 kg/ha K2O,30,000 kg/ha manure was 41.5t/ha,15.0% higher than control(conventional fertilization, 120 kg/ha N,,90 kg/ha P2O5,30,000 kg/ha manure), the marketable tuber rate was 98.6%, net income was RMB 25,305.00/ha. Phosphorus Fertilization make a important role in potato production in Leishan, the yield decreased by 41.9% without phosphorus for OPT treatment, so one kilograms phosphorus will increase 71.7kg potato tuber and RMB 85.30. It is possible to only use nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to instead of manure.
