Illiciaceae are single genus plants which are evergreen arbors or bushes with high ornament value. Their branches and leaves have fragrance and they blossom in spring. As fruits of most kinds in Illiciaceae are poisonous their applying in gardening is rare. But some Illiciaceae plants in Jiangsu and Zhejiang area don't fruiting which avoid the harm. So far related studies haven't been reported. At first biological characteristics of Illiciaceae plants in Jiangsu and Zhejiang area were investigated in this study and genetic diversity was studied on morphological character, molecular marker and biochemical marker which provided theoretical foundation for breeding new Illiciaceae type in gardening. Such results were obtained below:1. On the basis of the previous studies, further research was designed to investigate the biological characteristics of Illicium Plants, preliminarily verifying the development basic rules of the Illicium Plants twigs, leaves, flowers and fruits, revealing the existence of the variant genetic diversity of the morphological characteristics of the lanceolate Illicium plants. The experiment plant materials suppled from the Illicium Plants of the Jiang Zhe district belongs to the lanceolate Illicium plants, which can be divided into 11 different types.2. DNA was extracted from the different types of the lanceolate Illicium plant leaves, with the specific premiers designed for the PCR, obtaining and analyzing the sequence of the ITS. Results show that the length of the ITS sequence of the different types of the lanceolate Illicium plants was 634-636bp, with the sequence difference 0-2.4%. Among the above research the ITS sequence of 5 kinds of the materials in 2 groups were in full accord, yet being certain differences of the biological characteristics. Combined with the selected materials Phenotype Analysis, Queliang Qu proposes that the classification method based on the ITS sequence differences was not suitable for the lanceolate Illicium plants.3. Enzyme sample was extracted from young leaves of 13 trial plants and POD isozyme zymograms were analyzed. 10 bands were detected from POD isozyme zymograms two of which can identify 2 types of 13 trial plants. 3 kinds were divided at similarity rate of 0.7 in cluster analysis which was mainly identical to their fruiting, fruit number and source.4. Proteome differential expression of trial plants from Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou was analyzed with young leaves as material on the basis of optimizing 2DE technology. Analyzing 2-DE maps, match rate between trial plants from Nanjing and Suzhou was 64%. So as match rate between trial plants from Hangzhou and Suzhou. And it's 70.5% between Hangzhou and Nanjing which inferred trial plants from Suzhou some genetic difference with other lanceolate Illicium plants.
