Wheat what is taken as a principle food by 30 to 40 percent people in the word is one of the most food crops. In purpose of improving the quality and quantity of wheat and ensuring food security of our country, advanced technology like visualization technology was used in the research field on crops like wheat to solve the new problems emerging on agronomy nowadays. Virtual agriculture research is a new direction following researches on simulation model of crops and precision agriculture. It brought both challenges and chances for traditional agriculture, what's more, it has gained many achievements in such a short time. Using existed achievements and experiences and lessons for reference, collecting organ morphology indexes of wheat in different variety or density, simulation model of morphology structure of wheat organ was built in this paper. Besides, combining tri-dimensional geometric model, the growing visualization system which can simulate the dynamic growing process of above-ground organ of wheat population in a roughly real way was designed and carried out. The operation on addition, modification, deletion, inquiry of variety parameters, climatic data and cultivation measures was put into use with the database technology.Research contents in detail are as follows:1. Basing on the existed research and collected morphology index of wheat organ, dynamic model on the leaf length, leaf shape, leaf sheath of wheat and the length, width, thickness of wheatear was built.2. Basing on the growing regulation of wheat and its topology structure, combining computer graphics, geometric display model on above-ground organ of wheat population was built.3. Basing on the dynamic model and geometric display model of wheat organ, tri-dimensional dynamic display of wheat population was carried out with OpenGL.4. Basing on crop cultivation and OpenGL, computer representation of wheat in different density was researched.5. Basing on researches above and VC++ platform, growing visualization system of wheat population was designed and carried out with MFC and database technology.Differences of growing situation for wheat leaf in different variety under the same density or in the same variety under different density were shown in the visualization system. The system can also clearly show differences of the width, length, thickness of wheatear on main stem or tillers of wheat in different varieties under different densities. The dynamic growing process for wheat population in different varieties under different densities can also be shown with this system. The system offers a chance to research the best plant density for wheat in different variety. That simulated growth of wheat with computer can shorten the growth cycle, reduce the number of field experiments, save human, material resources and financial resources, reduce production cost, improve the utilization ratio. It is important for changing the traditional agriculture into high quality, high yield, safe, ecological and efficient one. Meanwhile, with such a system, suggestions for agronomy expert to make decision can be offered, growth developing regulation of wheat can be figured out, growing control to wheat can also be guided.The growing visualization system which is combining the virtual technology and agronomy and simulating the growth of wheat population offers a platform, easy to see, easy to operate and control for the agricultural technician to solve farming problems.
