In order to make clear the compare the composition and relative content of VOCs, photosynthesis intensity and ability to adapt to the size of the environment from 9 common landscape trees and prived a theoretical basis on obtaining a reasonable distribution for landscape, we analyzed the composition and contend of VOCs, light response curves and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters in Magnolia grandiflora L.,Koelreuteria bipinnata var. integrifoliola,Sophora japonica var.Pendula Loud.,Spiraea japonica L.f.,Hypericum monogymum L.,Lonicera japonica Thunb.,Coreopsis grandiflora Hogg.,Canna glauca L.,Hemerocallis fulva L. using the thermal desorption system gas chromatography/mass spectrometer technique (TDS-GC-MS), Li-6400 portable photosynthesis analyzer and PAM-2100 portable modulated chlorophyll fluorescence. The results were as follows:1. The VOCs of the flowers of the 9 plants obtained by TDS-GC-MS detected higher levers of terpene compounds, in H monogymum (92.47%), C grandiflora (91.37%), M grandiflora (82.17%) had a higher level, whereα-pinene,β-pinene, phellandrene as the main ingredient, Carbonyl compounds are also higher, S japonica var. (34.81%), S japonica (40.54%), Hs fulva (49.67%) in the higher levels, the main substances nonyl aldehyde, decyl aldehyde, octanal, etc.; the VOCs in the plant leaves such as Mgrandiflora (96.54%), H monogymum (60.56%), L japonica (30.19%)have higher terpene compounds, the main components includingα-pinene, sabinene, limonene, etc., esters also had higher levels in the VOCs of leaves, such as K bipinnata , S japonica var., these two compounds in the plant material content of the total content of 61.02% and 37.58%, cis-3-Hexenyl-1-acetate as the main material.2. It is showed that the greatest photosynthetic capacity of the six plants is different by comparision of the photosynthetic characteristics of nine different green plants, S japonica var., K bipinnata and S japonica have the higher photosynthetic capacity. M grandiflora, K bipinnata and S japonica have lower LCP, H monogymum, S japonica var. and S japonica have higher LSP, M grandiflora, S japonica var. and K bipinnata have higher capacity of water use efficiency(WUE), C glauca is not only the one that has higher photosynthetic capacity but also water use efficiency whith the three herbs, the light compensation point of C grandiflora is lowest, and the light saturation point of H fulva is higher.3. By comparision of chlorophyll fluorescence of nine different green plants, It is showed that the Maximal PSⅡefficiency(Fv/Fm) of H monogymum, S japonica var.and S japonica is higher, H monogymum, L japonica, M grandiflora have higher qP, M grandiflora, S japonica var., K bipinnata have higher qN; in three herbs, H fulva have higher Fv/Fm and qN, C glauca has a higher qP.
