Effects Of Altitude And Varieties On Tobacco In Bijie Area Of Guizhou Province Of China

Leaf quality of flue-cured tobacco is achieved under the interaction of variety, ecological conditions and cultivation conditions. Flue-cured tobacco leaves with high quality only can be obtained by full utilization of both ecological conditions and variety under the same cultivation conditions. Bijie area is the third biggest production area of flue-cured tobacco leaves in China with the complicated ecological condition, and the suitable selection of tobacco variety for local ecological condition is very important for the tobacco industry development in Bijie area. In this study, ecological conditions of Bijie area among different altitude and ecological adaptability of main flue-cured tobacco cultivars, such as Yunyan87 and Yunyan97, were analyzed, which would avail the optimization of tobacco variety for the different ecological conditions in Bijie area. The results show:(1) The climate conditions during the growth stage for the tobacco differed among the different altitude in Bijie area. Among the ecological factors, mean month temperature and the amount of rainfall differed remarkablely, which affected the growth and leaf quality of the tobacco significantly. Corresponding cultivation measures should be applied according to the climate change to alleviate the effect of bad weather condition.(2) Physical characteristics, agronomic characters, appearance quality, chemical composition, organoleptic evaluation and economic traits of the same variety of tobacco differed significantly, while physical characteristics, agronomic characters, appearance quality, chemical composition, organoleptic evaluation and economic traits of different flue-cured tobacco varieties differed in the same ecological zone significantly, which indicated that in different ecological zone, proper variety should be selected according the ecological factors to produce the good tobacco leaves.In conclusion, based on the condition of upper leaves, status of leaves, physical characteristic organoleptic evaluation and economic traits of leaves of the flue-cured tobacco varieties cultivated among different altitude in Bijie area, cv.Yunyan97 is a good variety for Bijie area.
