The shell colors of Chlamys nobilis was polymorphism. This experiment was conducted to provide the theoretical basis and reference for directive breeding of shell colors of Chlamys nobilis. Form 2009 to 2011 we investigated the status about different types of shell color of Chlamys nobilis which was cultivated in Beibu Gulf, Leizhou Byland, as a result, five types of shell color were confirmed which were designated as Orange, Brown, Orange-Purple, white and Purple-Brown, respectively. In succession, five types of shell color families were established, and then, we worked over the stably heredity concerning shell color. According to the theory of the quantity inheritance, we compared the growth capability of F1, the parameters of the growth character of F1 and the growth curve model-fit of F1 about the Chlamys nobilis among five types of shell color by used the method of establishing five shell color groups. The results were as follows:This study investigated the types of the shell color and the frequency of each type about Chlamys nobilis which was cultivated in Beibu Gulf by random selecting 1000 individuals from 10 different groups. There are Orange, Brown, Orange-Purple, Bordeaux-White and Purple-Brown which based on the color of the coping, the middle, the surface and the inverse of the shell that was macroscopic. The frequency of different types of shell color were 45.68%(Orange), 27.4%(Brown), 17.0 %(Orange-Purple), 8.2%(Bordeaux-White) and 1.8%(Purple-Brown) respective. We established 15 different shell color families by selecting the same shell color individual as parents which including 3 Orange, 3 Brown, 3 Orange-Purple, 3 Bordeaux-White and 3 Purple-Brown families. The results showed that there is character segregation between 4 families which including one Orange family and 3 Orange-Purple families, while the other 11 families were not segregated. The shell-color character is stable and heritable. Different shell color might be controlled by multi-genes. However, the genetic affinity of different shell color is complicated. We instituted the experimentation to understand the relationship between different shell colors and quantitative traits of Chlamys nobilis by using the mate strategy of same shell color fertilization, which were included five shell color selective lines (Orange, Brown, Orange-Purple, Bordeaux-White and Purple-Brown selective lines) respectively. Since fertilization, the five populations were always cultured under the same conditions in order to minimize environmental effects. The survey was taken to measure kinds of index monthly during the course of sprout and adults. We made comparisons among the growth capability of F1, the parameters of the growth character of F1 and the growth curve model-fit of F1, The statistics summary showed that it was remarkable difference among the different shell color growth of sprout and the different shell color survival rate of sprout. With the regard to larvae growth, the growth of Purple-Brown was most remarkable, followed by Brown, Orange-Purple and Bordeaux-White in turn, and Orange grew slowly. The survival rate is as follow: Orange, Purple-Brown, Bordeaux-White, Orange-Purple and Brown. On the part of the growth character of F1, Purple-Brown and Brown were faster than other shell color, but Orange was less slowish in the initial stage, and then, Orange was faster in the follow stage and Bordeaux-White and Purple-Brown selective lines were slower. The survival rate from high to low is arranged in sequence of Bordeaux-White, Purple-Brown, Orange, Orange-Purple and Brown. The analysis of the growth character of F1 showed that different shell color growth character of F1 was significant different. So the growth character should take into consider in the selective breeding. Correlation analysis showed that the AP was relative to the growth parameters among different shell color. It suggests that the indirect selection of some traits should accord to the specific condition of some population. We took the study on growth model of five shell color for Chlamys nobilis in Beibu Gulf into account, and we analyzed the growth curve of SL, SB, SH, W, PW, SW and AW and fitted with four kinds of nonlinear models (von Bertalanffy, Gompertz, Logistic and Brody). The results showed that all the models were fitting with the growth curves. The R~2 is over 0.950. The von Bertalanffy model and Gompertz model had the best effect on fitting with the growth curves, because of the exorbitant parameters. Due to the exorbitant parameter B the Brody model were not well fitted with the growth curves. The Logistic model was also not well fitted with the growth curves, because of the parameter a is exorbitant.
