Five light intensity treatments (100%,60%,40%,20%,5%) and five fertilization treatments (0.5g,1g,1.5g,2g,Og) were set to study the effects of light and fertilization on growth and physiological characteristics on container seedlings of Dalberqia odorifera T. Chen. In the growing season, seedlings growth dynamics, morphological index, biomass, photosynthetic characteristics, physiological and main nutritional index in different levels of light intensity and fertilization were determinated and analysed to find the proper light intensity and fertilization rate of D. odorifera container seedling. The main conclusions are as follows:(1) Studing light intensity on seedling growth dynamics found that light environment is an important influencing factor of D. odorifera T.chen. With the extent of growth period, seedling growth was inhibited gradually in shading treatment, and the trend of inhibition was become increasingly significant. In full illumination and medium light treatments, the seedling height and ground diameter increased significantly faster during the rowing period, the ratio of height to diameter with the longer growing season first increased, and then decreased.(2) Studying light intensity on seedling growth morphology found that shading treatment inhibited seedlings growth and morphology significantly. The weakened light intensity lowered seedling survival rate, decreased plant height, ground diameter, specific leaf weight, main root length, biomass of leaf, stem and root, root-shoot ratio and quality index significantly. With the light intensity weakened, Chl.a and Chl.b of seedling leaves significantly increased, ratio of Chl.a/Chl.b and specific leaf weight reduced, water content of plant parts increased corresponding, net photosynthetic rate decreased, intercellular CO2 concentration increased, but stomatal conductance changed unsignificantly. Integrated growth dynamics, morphology and quality index evaluation of physiology, we think that D. odorifera need full illumination in seedling stage.(3) Studying fertilizer treatment on seedling growth dynamic found that slow-released compound fertilizer promoted seedling growt significantly. With the extended growth period, differences among treatment become larger, differences of ground diameter was significant after 20 days, and differences of seedling height reached to the significant levels after 35 days later. Compared with the control, fertilization treatment entered into the fast growing period 15 days earlier.(4) Studying fertilizer treatment on seedling growth physiology and photosynthetic characteristics found that slow-released compound fertilizer could enhance the photosynthesis, improve net photosynthetic rate and transpiration rate of seedling leaf. With fertilizer rate increasing, net photosynthetic rate and transpiration rate first increased and then decreased. Net photosynthetic rate and transpiration rate reached the highest when fertilized 1.5g per plant. Integrated growth dynamics, morphology and quality index evaluation of physiology,1.5g per plant fertilization treatment was the best.
