Tricholoma matsutake, precious and with high value, is a kind of ecototrophic mycorrhizal fungi. T. matsutake's artificial cultivation is not realized because of its special ecological characteristics, and nowadays people can only obtain its fruitbody in natural woodland or by way of semi-artificial cultivation. The studies on the ecology of T. matsutake are the academic base of its protection and reasonable exploitation, and from which its adaptability, variability and domestication potentiality can be obtained. Studies on T. matsutake's artificial cultivation will be accelerated by way of grasping its ecological characteristics and controlling its ecological system function according to its natural growth rule. The studies of T. matsutake's ecology were macroscopical and repetitious in bygone days, and some fields in the ecology, such as the soil ecology and its function of T. matsutake growth zone, the relation between T. matsutake and microbe and the effects to T. matsutake of climate factors in different month, are still unsubstantial. The studies aim at these unsubstantial fields, set up the observatory in Mudanjiang Area T. matsutake protection bureau in Dongning county, and research the ecological characteristics of T. matsutake by way of sampling and analysis. The result show that the forest of T. matsutake growth zone includes Pinus densiflora and Quercus mongolica in Mudanjiang Area, the vegetation under the trees is sparse, and its structure is simple. The soil in T. matsutake growth zone is dark brown forest soil, the texture is coarse, the A layer is thin, the soil is very barren and acid, and the variety and quantity of the soil microbe are very small. More fruitbody of T. matsutake grow when there is a lot of well-proportioned rainfall, and the temperature from May to July and the rainfall in June affect the mycelium growth of T. matsutake markedly.
