The low-molecular-weight glutenin subunit of wheat has significant influence on dough processing quality.Through glutenin polyners formed by LMW-GS and HMW-GS via inner and inter molecular disulphide bonds. It accouts for 1/3 of total seed storage proteins and 60% of glutenin.25 novel LMW-GS genes were isolated from Ps. Juncea PI429801 by using a set of PCR primer combinations. The main results were as follows:1. A total of these LMW-GS sequences were obtained, the whole coding region of these genes varived from 882 to 1014bp and deposited in GenBank database under accession numbers HQ71347 to HQ713494, respectively.2. Among these sequences,6 were putative genes by having complete open reading frames and the remaining 19 sequences were pseudogenes by presenting one or more infram stop codons in the coding region.3. According to the first seven amino acid residues in the N-termianls, these genes are classfied into ten types, of which, six type genes (VETSRIP,VETSRTP,METSSTP,METSSIP,METSRTP and METSRIL) no homology gene was retrived for, suggesting that some novel LMW-GS was exisced in the species of Psathyroseachys juncea.
