Cotton seedlings transplanting mechanism is an important part of the transplanting machine. Reasonable structure design has great impact on transplant efficiency and quality. A wide range of cotton was planted in China. Transplanting techniques in soilless gradually become the mainstream. Large-scale cultivation of cotton demands the transplanting machine which suitable for China urgently. Therefore, research of cotton seedlings transplanting mechanism has great significance. Based on the current status of cotton transplanting machine at home and abroad, we disigned the cotton seedlings transplanting mechanism and did experimental research. The research content and conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1) According to the agronomic characteristics of cotton, we get cotton cultivation technology, transplanting time, planting density and so on,which can provide parameters for the cotton seedlings transplanting mechanism design. Moreover, it benefit for cultivate high-quality cotton seedlings and increase cotton production.(2) Through analyzing the experimental results of the mechanical properties of cotton seedlings, it was found that the minimum pull-off force is 44.128N, the minimum crushing force is 418.197N, and the maximum picking force is 4.446N. The experimental results provide parameters for cotton clamp design.(3) Transplanting mechanism is designed based on the agronomic characteristics and mechanical properties of cotton seedlings. Three-dimensional solid modeling is created and virtual prototype is designed by Pro/E. By analyzing kinematics of transplanting mechanism, we get kinematic mathematical model. Principle of seedlings zero velocity to delivery seedlings is analyzed, and the trajectory equation of cotton seedlings centroid and requirement of zero velocity to throw seedlings are obtained.(4) The dynamic modelsof the main components are obtained, because of the dynamic analysis of transplanting mechanism. It benefits for ensuring the mechanism stiffness and prevent cotton seedlings clamp to hurt cotton seedlings. Rubber clip of cotton seedlings clamp is analyzed by ANSYS. The results show deformation of the maximum displacement is 23.439mm, maximum equivalent stress isl8.636Pa. Rubber clip to complete delivery only 4.7N, which can not to damage seedlings. (5) Angle of cotton seedlings clamp is optimized.Optimization results show that the angle of seedling guide groove is 6°, the distance between cotton seedlings centroid and ditch bottom is 0.13m, parameters is 1.59.(6) Regarded vertical rate, wound seeding rate, planting rate of leakage, the average spacing and depth pass rate as evaluating indicator, carried out single factor test of cotton seedlings transplanting mechanism. Problem was discovered and optimized to improve capability of transplanting mechanism. Multi-factor orthogonal experiment of transplanting mechanism is carried out. The results show that the optimal value of three factors that:forward speed of transplanting mechanism is 0.4m/s, the angle of seedling guide groove is 6°and the depth of ditch is 8cm.
