Due to the development of the history, the development of the mountainous areais slow. Because of the economic and natural environment, the design standards ofmountainous highway roads are hard to meet the minimum standards of general roadsand city roads. Compared to general roads and city roads, mountainous highway roadsare worse in roadbed and flat,vertical and horizontal linear and traffic organization. Inaddition, they are also influenced by so many random disturbance factors, whichinfluence the normal operation of traffic flow of mountainous highway roads.Random disturbance is an important reason that leads to traffic jams and accidents,which is the key and difficult point in traffic safety management of mountain area.Therefore, research on random disturbance factors of mountainous highway roads isimportant to understand the characteristics of traffic flow of mountain road. It cangive great reference value to mountain road safety problems. And it is also helpful tothe development of traffic simulation modeling of mountain roads.Car-overtaking model is an important model which can be used to study thetraffic state of two-way two-lane highway. It means when two cars are in linearvehicle-following state or they are in the condition of driving free, the faster car canpass the slower one through the difference of speed. The car-overtaking behavior,which occurs on the two-way two-lane road, is influenced by more randomdisturbance. Once the car-overtaking behavior is failure, it will be easy to cause trafficjams and accidents. So, study on car-overtaking is also helpful to traffic safetymanagement. In addition, it can improve the development of traffic flow theory.Firstly, this paper summarizes the traffic state of our country mountain road,analyzes the specific characteristics of traffic flow of mountain area highway, anddefines the random disturbance of traffic flow of mountain area highway, and alsoclassifies and studies it. Secondly,, the traditional model of car-overtaking is analyzedin details. The car-overtaking process is divided into five stages. The traditionalcar-overtaking model is established. The process is also analyzed in details. Then,through the characteristics of the random disturbance of traffic flow of mountain road,combined the tradition traffic flow theory and the theory of probability and otherrelated theory, the car-overtaking model, which is suitable to two-lane road inmountain area, is established. It can be used to judge the possibility of car-overtaking under certain condition and estimate the sum of car-overtaking. The parameters arecalibrated by investigation and related theory and experience. The model is alsoverified through the investigation.
