Electronic Chart Design And Implementation In Oil Field Based On S-57Standard

The appearance of electronic charts has not only helped maritime industry get rid ofthe dependency on paper charts, but also guaranteed the exploitation and utilization ofmarine for human beings. To research and create China electronic charts system basedon the international standards will integrate China's electronic charts into globalsystem and promote the development of China's shipping industry, which can alsoprovide technical support for the exploitation and management of marine resources.This paper placed the research of S-57standard as a background, and explored theapplication of the S-57standard electronic chart in the oil field sea area.First, through analysis and summary of the relevant information on S-57standard,this research presented the theoretical model, data model and data packagingstandards of the S-57standard, and established data structures for the S-57standardelectronic chart. Learning the part of the S-52standard was the basis for the design ofobjects. The study of these two standards, both helped ascertain the content to bedisplayed on the electronic chart, and also provided a guideline for the next step.Second, according to the standards, the design of simple S-57standard oil fieldobjects was completed. And then, this research selected Mercator projection as thechart projection and completed the projection transformation and coordinateconversion. Finally, the electronic chart of oil field was displayed. The displayedobjects were consistent with the actual measured ones.The system displayed the target information in the oil field sea, including the underwater pipeline, isobaths, oil platforms and the value of depth. These objects includedthe deep underground pipelines, the pipes suspended in the water, and the waterplatform. This practice demonstrated that the S-57standard could be used for theelectronic chart production in the oilfield sea. The S-57standard electronic chartcould meet the daily management and maintenance of the oil field. Combined withreal-time navigation and positioning equipments, the electronic chart could alsoensure the safety of vessels in the oil field areas, which showed a good prospect.
