The embedment characteristics of wood is main factor of traditonal timber joint deformation, but also the main cause jiont area split and shear the brittle failure. We define the vertical compression in the direction of wood fiber is wood embedment.according to practical experience in engineering, wood embedment include local embedment and convex embedment. By the test, the impact of wood embedment load-deformation curve of the factors that have margins, away from the side, wood thickness, pressure size and so on.The main theory is the theory of wood embedment (local embedment and convex embedment),to embedmnt experiment(pine, firlocal embedment and convex embedment) as the basis in this paper. And the wood was found to be heterogeneous orthotropic material, its mechanical properties with the stress direction of wood grain and the angle between different, there is a great difference. The mechanical property of wood has direction.by assuming that the wood embedment deformation curve, deduced displacement-force formula of local embedment and angle-moment formula of convex embedment.and to the ideal elastic-plastic material model, deduced displacement-force formula of local embedment and corner-moment formula of convex embedment in the plastic phase.Compared displacement-force formula of local embedment by theoretical derivation with fitted displacement-force formula of local embedment by experimental data in elastic, plastic stage, and Compared angle-moment formula of convex embedment by theoretical derivation with experimental data in elastic, plastic stage. The results show that theoretically derived formula can be used to describe the Wood embedment process.Straight tenon joints stress process can be viewed as two convex embedment surface. then deduces the straight tenon joint moment and the angle relation. From the formula can be drawn in the influence of straight mortise joints performance of the three factors, namely tenon width, height, length.Are respectively controlled by two factors, one factor changes, analyse its influence to the tenon and mortise jionts elastic limit angle, elastic limit bending, plastic limit angle, plastic limit bending.
