Study On The Distribution And Carrying Capacity Of Water Resources In Sichuan Province

Water resources are the necessary basic natural resource related to the survival and development of human, as well as one of the key factors to maintain the ecosystem and the development of social economy. With the development of human society, problems of water environment are becoming more and more apparent, caused by the rapid growth of population, much larger scale of social economy, irrational structure of industry, and the serious destroy of ecology environment, and prove to be the first element to restrict the sustainable development of society. Sichuan province has rich water resources, however, the unequally distribution of time and space leads to the difficulty in the water resource utilization, and the shortage of water resource has seriously restricted the development of society and economy in certain regions. Hence, it is very necessary to study the carrying capacity of water resource and the according development countermeasures, which benefits the national economy development in Sichuan Province.Based on a great deal of reference materials, the present study described the present water resource distribution in Sichuan Province by GIS technology, and analyzed the main problems in the water resource exploitation and utilization. From the viewpoints of water resource, social economy, and ecosystem environment system, we selected12typical indexes and established the evaluating indicator system of water resource carrying capacity in Sichuan Province using2010as benchmark year, based on the construction principle and practical situation. We calculated and evaluated the carrying capacity of water resource in21cities in Sichuan Province by Principal component analysis method, and visualized the calculation results, which exhibited that the composite score of water resource carrying capacity in17cities was negative, and the situation of water resource was not optimistic in Chengdu and Meishan. In the view of the problems in the water resource utilization and the evaluation results of water resource carrying capacity, we have put forward some proposal with respect to the exploitation and utilization of water resource in order to improve the water resource carrying capacity in Sichuan Province.
