Railway, an important infrastructure and one of the major means of transportation in our country, undertakes large amounts of tasks. With the rapid development of the railways and acceleration of the speed, safety stands out as the most critical consideration for life and property. The railway signal equipment, as the basic infrastructure of railway transport, guarantees the safety of the whole system. Its security and efficiency depend on the transmission of signals between track circuits and the accurate display of locomotive signals. Therefore, effective testing methods are highly necessary to insure the work of track circuits and locomotive signals. On the basis of digital signal processing technology, this paper presents a method to identify the insulation joint on rails and to demodulate low-frequency signals, so that the monitoring and recording device on LKJ-N train can modify the calculation of distance from the coming train and provide driving instructions. On the analysis of the widely used UM71, ZPW-2000 and YP detecting track circuit in China, it provides a detailed method to identify insulation joints, and also simulates the algorithms with MATLAB. In this paper, with the application of the DSP TMS320F2801 of the TI Company, the hardware circuits to collect and process data are designed, and the programs for the system and algorithm are written, to accomplish the signal demodulation and spectrum analysis. Dual-system and dual-bus are also applied to improve its dependability. Experiments have shown that the system meets the planning requirement.
