Target Tracking Techniques place high premium, especially in the field of military, on improving intelligence of weapon equipment, enhancing the reliability for the real-time acquisition of target information, and finally achieving the accurate attack of moving target. The further development of target tracking becomes a world-wide problem in all countries. The target coordinate detector is a target tracking equipment which includes image processing system, servo control system and guidance system. It can capture and lock the flight objects quickly, and track the objects automaticly. Against this background, the objective of this dissertation is to study and design the servo control system.The main function of the servo control system is to acquire and respond the command given by the image processing system, which in charge of the image processing of the target and completes the master scheduling of the entire system, then drive the servomotor to make the tracking and measuring equipment follow the moving target. The goal of the new design is to realize stable tracking. The servo system carries out the DC torque motor control of the azimuth and height with two servo controllers.This dissertation provides a detailed introduction to the development of the servo control system, i.e. whole design scheme, and hardware and software implementation. The core of servo controller is ARM7 MCU LPC2368, motor drive circuit and encoder position data acquisition circuit based on CPLD are designed, CAN bus and RS-232 port are also expanded. Three closed-loop control structure of the digital position servo system is designed, and the system achieves the control of the position with the improved PID algorithm.The coordination to the subsystems of the detector has been successfully completed. The servo control system has been examined by tracking several inputs, i.e. step, slope and wine wave signal, and the test results demonstrate that the real-time and stability meet the index requirement. Moreover, the servo control system has been implemented to track the moving aircraft that further proves the property, and solve the problem existed in the system.
