Vane rotary compressor with small size, light weight, fewer parts and dynamic balance performance, has great advantages in comparison with piston-type compressors. So it is suitable to serve as small air compressor that has the high request on the space, the weight and vibration. However, low mechanical efficiency and low volumetric efficiency are the faults of the traditional vane-type air compressor in the long term. The main reason is that larger relative speed and contact force consist in the main moving pair of the compressor such as blade and cylinder, blade and end-plates, rotor and cylinder, rotor and end-plates. It engenders larger friction loss and part-wearing. Especially, the above fitting clearance of moving pair often constitutes compressor's internal leakage path, and has a greater leakage losses. Friction losses and leakage losses are difficult problems of the traditional vane-type air compressor, which have not been resolved.Based on the traditional vane-type air compressor's deficiency, this paper proposes a new type of stationary blade air compressor. The compressor has a swing rotor and a stationary blade, and the blade's out-end is hermetically fastened to the cylinder's inner wall and the blade's two side-ends are hermetically fastened to the end-covers, so that the movement speed of each motion pair has been reduced and the gas leaking paths from the compression chamber to the intake chamber have been decreased and therefore the leakage and friction occurred from these parts have been effectively eliminated. The paper introduces the compressor's structure characteristics and working principle, and establishes a mathematical model for the compressor. The results show: the rotor's moment of inertia has a severe effect on the friction and on the wear to the sliding block-blade moving pair and thus it should be minimized in order to decrease the contact force between the sliding blocks and the blade; the axial clearances between the rotor and the covers sensitively affect the compressor's volumetric efficiency, and therefore the axial seals should be adopted in order to reduce the leakage at the clearances between the rotor's two axial ends. The chief research of this paper is as follows:1. Firstly, stationary blade air compressor has been designed, including overall system, intake system, exhaust system, lubrication system and main parts design. Design considerations and examples of cylinder and rotor were given, and the working principle of the compressor was discussed. 2. Secondly, the paper carries on the theoretical analysis to the kinematics and dynamics characteristic of the stationary blade air compressor, builds dynamic model and leakage model of stationary blade air compressor, and calculates analytically the leakage of the leak channel. Moreover, the friction behavior and internal leakage rule of stationary blade air compressor have been theoretically discussed.3. Finally, the paper conducts experimental study on physical prototype of stationary blade air compressor, analyzes the test results of the physical prototype when the cylinder and rotor are combined by different materials, and gives specific measures to reduce the friction and leakage of stationary blade air compressor.
